Now
a days most of us would have heard about the new ongoing trend veganism. We can
see many celebrities going vegan and spreading awareness about it, such as Lisa
Haydon, Anushka Sharma ,John Abraham ,Alia Bhatt and many more not only them we
can see many people around us who are following this.
So, what exactly is Veganism?
Veganism is a way of living which
seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of
exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other
purpose.
There
are many ways to embrace vegan living. Yet one thing all vegans have in common
is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including
fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey - as well as avoiding
animal-derived materials, products tested on animals and places that
use animals for entertainment.
What it means in everyday life?
In
dietary terms veganism means doing away with all products derived wholly or
partly from other animals. It also means not wearing animal skins and fur
(leather, feather, fur, wool and silk), or using products that have been tested
on animals. Unfortunately, all medicines have been tested on other animals due
to regulatory requirements, and it may be hard to avoid them at times or to
find alternatives for some medical treatments.
Why vegetarian isn't enough?
The
suffering caused by the dairy and egg industry is possibly less well publicized
than the plight of factory farmed animals. The production of dairy products
necessitates the death of countless male calves that are of no use to the dairy
farmer, as well as the premature death of cows slaughtered when their milk
production decreases. Similarly, in the egg industry, even 'ethical' or 'free
range' eggs involve the killing of the 'unnecessary' male chicks when just a
day old.
